Chemical Free Beauty is a collection of practical guides for caring for your face, makeup, hair and nails without harsh synthetic additives. It is written by the family behind Lucky Lady Ranch, a small family ranch where we handcraft soaps, facial oils, balms and other body care in small batches.

We started making our own products because we wanted to know exactly what we were putting on our skin. Over the years, friends and customers asked us the same questions again and again. Which face oil should I use? Is my mascara safe? Why does my hair feel different after switching shampoo? This site is where we answer those questions in plain language, with the kind of detail we would want ourselves.

What chemical free means here.

We want to be honest about the phrase. Everything is made of chemicals, including water, shea butter and the vitamin E in a face oil. Soap itself is made through a chemical reaction. When we say chemical free, we mean free of harsh synthetic additives: undisclosed fragrance, preservatives with high allergy rates, harsh sulfates, petroleum fillers, persistent additives like PFAS, and other ingredients with real reasons for caution. We try to explain the difference between hazard and risk, to note when regulators consider an ingredient safe at certain levels, and to avoid fear for its own sake.

How we write.

Our guides focus on routines, shopping and label reading. We rely on information from sources such as the US Food and Drug Administration, the American Academy of Dermatology and the European Commission, and we hedge where the science is still developing. Nothing on this site is medical advice. If you have a skin, scalp or nail condition, please talk with a doctor or dermatologist.

Where it truly helps, we mention the products we make, and you are always welcome to skip them. You can learn more about our family and our way of working on the Lucky Lady Ranch about page, or browse our handmade soaps, oils and balms in the Lucky Lady Ranch shop. Thank you for reading, and for caring about what you leave out as much as what you put in.
